Cody "ContrA" Szczodrowski is an American player for Evil Geniuses. He is well known for his time with teams such as Denial eSports , OpTic Gaming , and Team Allegiance. He has played under various pseudonyms, including LiL TalenT, Nycek and more.

Biography

Halo 2: Anniversary

ContrA started off HCS Season 1 as a member of Reality Check with Suddoth1, Suddoth2 and PreDevoNator. They placed 7th at Iron Games Columbus 2014. ContrA then left Reality Check and joined Noble Black with Arkanum, Blaze and Randa for UGC St. Louis 2015, placing top 12. He then left the team to join OpTic Gaming with Flamesword, Ace and Assault. With ContrA on board, OpTic placed 2nd in HCS Cups #6 and #7 and 3rd at Gamers For Giving 2015. In the season finals at PAX East 2015, Contra and OpTic placed 7-8th.

Contra was dropped from OpTic shortly after the finals, and on March 18, Randa announced that he was teaming with Naded, Ryanoob and Contra.[1] They went under the name of Team Randa for the preseason, where they won the first Preseason Cup and placed top 6 in the second one, earning the #1 seed going into Iron Games Atlanta 2015. It was then announced that the roster had been acquired by esports organization Winterfox for HCS season 2.[2] In Atlanta, Winterfox finished in 4th place, being eliminated by Cloud9.[3] On April 29th, Winterfox announced that they were parting ways with Contra and that he was taking a break from competitive Halo.[4] On May 18th, Contra's break from Halo ended, as it was announced that he was returning to Noble eSports to team with Cratos, Suspector and LifeStyle.[5] Despite finishing in the top 8 at HCS Indianapolis, Contra and Noble were unable to earn enough HCS points to qualify for the HCS Season 2 Finals.

Halo 5: Guardians

On November 27, 2015, Noble eSports announced their new roster of ContrA, Rayne, Penguin and FilthyG.[6] FilthyG was soon replaced by Contra's frequent teammate PreDevoNatoR. After one tournament with Noble, Contra and Devon left to form Disobey. Eventually, the Disobey roster consisted of Contra, Devon, bubudubu and Huke, and was picked up by Denial eSports and qualified for the HWC NA Regional Finals as the 11th seed. At Regionals, Denial upset 6th seeded, Team EnVyUs, 4th seeded Team Liquid and 1st seeded Team Allegiance, making it all the way to the finals before losing a 4-2 series to Counter Logic Gaming and finishing 2nd. It was Contra's (and his teammates') first major event grand final. Denial qualified for Halo World Championship 2016 through their performance.

On April 22nd 2016, it was announced that ContrA and Devon were leaving Denial to join Goofy and Ryanoob and form the new Team Allegiance roster. The team successfully qualified for the Summer 2016 Pro League at the Summer Qualifier, placing 2nd in their group. After posting an unimpressive 1-5 record over the first three weeks, Allegiance replaced Goofy with Heinz. Though Heinz helped improve the team's standing, they were unable to close the deficit, and ended up finishing 6th, just enough to qualify for the Fall Season but not enough to qualify for the Summer Finals.

Allegiance made changes in the offseason, replacing Heinz and RyaNoob with Falcated and Shooter. After a poor start to the season, Shooter made the untimely decision to leave the team, leaving Allegiance unable to attend HCS Orange County 2016. ContrA instead opted to attend with AcE, BxbyJ and Renegade as The MoneyMatches Team. They finished in the top 6. Allegiance then finalized its roster, picking up Str8 SicK from the Open Circuit. Their fortunes did not improve, as they ultimately finished in 8th place with a 3-11 record, facing Relegation. At HCS Las Vegas 2016, a different Team Allegiance showed up, defeating multiple pro teams and finishing 3rd overall. At Relegation, Allegiance lost to Enigma6 Group but were able to defeat The MoneyMatches Team and 3sUP to save their spot.

On December 14th, 2016, ContrA announced via Twitter that he is longer a part of Team Allegiance, stating that he was in the middle of "filing the release paperwork". Less than a month later, ContrA joined Evil Geniuses alongside Roy, Lunchbox and PreDevoNatoR. The new roster's first event together was UGC St. Louis 2017, and they went into the event with high expectations due to their combined LAN pedigree. Unfortunately for EG, they were knocked out of the event by Inconceivable and eventual runners-up Team Liquid, finishing in the top 6.
