The MLG Las Vegas Championships were the final event of the 2006 MLG post-season, taking place at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada from November 18-19, 2006. Halo 2 was played in 4v4 and FFA/1v1 tournaments, alongside Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Overview

Eight teams. A $100,000 cash prize on the line. Finishing outside of the top 3 meant going home with nothing. Final Boss looked to improve on their performance by bringing in OGRE3, older brother of the Ogre twins, as a coach. They came out strong in the first round, taking out FBI GamerGraffix.com 3-1. Carbon followed suit, sweeping Shook on3 gaming. Str8 Rippin took out Storm Ventures 3-1, while LeGendZ pulled off a mild upset, taking a five game series over XiT Woundz. In the following round, Final Boss destroyed LeGendZ while Carbon destroyed Str8 Rippin. In the first round of Losers', two big upsets happened, with FBI GamerGraffix taking out XiT Woundz in 5 games and Shook on3 gaming taking out Storm Ventures in 4. Both of the underdog teams, however, were taken out in the following round by Str8 Rippin and LeGendZ. Str8 then swept LeGendz, guaranteeing themselves at least $30,000, and awaited the loser of the WB Final. In the WB Final, Carbon once again got the upper hand on Final Boss, taking them out in a 4 game series. Final Boss decimated Str8 in the LB Finals to earn a rematch, but were unable to overcome the deficit, losing to Carbon in 10 games. Carbon were crowned the 2006 National Halo Champions, and the first National Champion team not to feature the Ogres and Walshy.

In the 1v1 tournament, Karma looked to build upon his unprecedented eight event winning streak and turn it into a National Championship. He came out strong from the FFA portion, seizing the #1 seed for the 1v1s. He first defeated KillerN 15-10 before decimating OGRE2 15-2. He then took out StrongSide 15-7 in the WB Final and defeated him again in the Grand Final to be crowned the National FFA Champion and take a $10,000 cash prize.
