Chris "Royal1" Fiorante is a Canadian coach for OpTic Gaming. He is the older brother of Mathew "Royal2" Fiorante, who also plays for OpTic Gaming.

Biography

Chris and Mathew Fiorante are from Regina, Saskatchewan.

Halo 2: Anniversary

Coaching Debut

Royal1 coached Counter Logic Gaming for the entirety of Halo 2's Anniversary. He replaced Tyler "Diesal" Hoyt who coached the team for the Launch Invitational while they were under the Shoot to Kill banner. His event debut was at Iron Gaming Columbus 2014 where CLG ended up taking 1st place by beating Evil Geniuses. CLG would not see a championship again during 2015 as they took 2nd to rivals EG at UGC St. Louis 2015, Gamers For Giving 2015, and HCS Season 1 Finals before deciding to part ways with Heinz. Cloud was then added to the roster and this change seemed to be the wrong move as they placed 5th at Iron Games Atlanta 2015. However, the team returned to form as CLG returned to championship contender form for the final two events by placing 2nd at HCS Indianapolis and HCS Season 2 Finals, both to Evil Geniuses.

Halo 5: Guardians

Absence From Worlds

With the release of Halo 5, Royal1 became absent from the teams practice and online tournaments. It was later revealed that Clutch had become the new coach while he focused more on his job. His departure from the coaching position meant that he would miss out on the new Counter Logic Gaming roster's 2nd place at X Games Aspen 2016 and 1st place finishes at HWC NA Regional Finals 2016, Halo World Championship 2016, and HCS Pro League - Summer 2016 Regular Season. Looking to continue their success, CLG revealed that Royal1 would be returning as the team's coach at HCS Pro League - Summer 2016 Finals, where they took 1st place and continued CLG's 3 event winning streak.

Departing from CLG, Moving Forward With OpTic

On September 14th, it was announced that Counter Logic Gaming's roster had been acquired by OpTic Gaming. After a shaky start to HCS Pro League Season 2, Royal1 and the rest of the squad continued their dominance at HCS Orange County 2016 by taking 1st place, continuing the team's 4 event winning streak, and beating their biggest competition (Team EnVyUs) three times to silence all the doubt that they are the best team. After losing two best of sevens in the Grand Finals to Team EnVyUs at the HCS Pro League - Fall 2016 Finals, OpTic Gaming would bounce back strong headed into Halo World Championship 2017 with two 1st place finishes at UGC St. Louis and ME Las Vegas.

Trivia

  • Royal1 has only ever coached Royal2's teams.
